Cut Off Wheels
A cut-off wheel is a thin disc abrasive used to cut through a variety of materials. Most commonly used in angle grinders and stationary saws, cut-off wheels offer the ability to make precise, controlled cuts on various metals and other materials. Cut-off wheels come in a few different types, the most popular being Type 1 and Type 27. DW Fastener is proud to carry an array of high-quality Type 1 and Type 27 cut-off wheels from Bullard Abrasives, proudly made in the USA and engineered for durability, performance and safety. Type 1
A Type 1 cut-off wheel is completely flat. Most commonly referred to as the best all-purpose wheel, Type 1 can be used to make straight cuts on a variety of metals due to its low profile.
Type 27
A Type 27 cut-off wheel has a depressed center. The depressed center allows for added clearance and a better view of the cut. These are typically used in hard-to-reach areas or on contoured materials.
Depending on the job you are working on, there are many different classifications of cut-off wheels to choose from to ensure the best longevity, quality, and performance. Ferrous metals (steel, iron, welds, etc) work best with cut-off wheels designed to handle iron and higher heat while cutting. Non-ferrous metals (aluminium, brass, and copper) work best with cut-off wheels formulated to prevent loading (material build-up) and provide fast, clean cuts.
